Job Description
This is a locum doctor role for an Obstetrics & Gynaecology Consultant at Forbes in NSW.
Role Info
* Conduct clinical handover at 0800 with incoming or outgoing obstetricians in the Maternity Ward or via telephone.
* Perform daily inpatient maternity ward rounds from 0800 to 0900.
* Provide 24-hour shift coverage, including a minimum of 4 hours onsite also including weekend coverage.
* Assist with the provision of onsite gynaecology services for the Emergency Department (ED) as required, following escalation via vCare (e.g., management of Bartholin’s cyst or abscess).
* Manage early labour and pregnancy loss, including dilation and curettage (D&C) and manual removal of placenta.
* Conduct comprehensive neonatal assessments prior to discharge, ensuring accurate documentation in the eMR and personal health record.
* Assess and manage patients scheduled for induction of labour.
* Deliver antenatal and postnatal outpatient clinic services as rostered.
* Complete daily ward round documentation, discharge summaries, and reviews of obstetric, gynaecological, and neonatal patients in the Maternity Ward or ED as required.
* Maintain contemporaneous and comprehensive clinical documentation in eMR and eMaternity systems.
* Lead and provide clinical support during clinical reviews, rapid responses, obstetric emergencies, and neonatal resuscitations.
* Review pathology and radiology results via the maternity results message centre, follow up on outstanding findings, document management plans, and review patients as needed.
* Provide medical support to the Lachlan MAPPS and MGP midwifery models of care.
* Participate in the training, education, and supervision of students, junior medical officers, and registrars.
* Attend and contribute to maternity team meetings, morbidity and mortality reviews, multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings, and other clinical meetings as required.
