About the Role
We're seeking an experienced payroll leader to lead the Payroll function and contribute to one of Council's most significant programs — Digital Darebin. You'll own payroll end‐to‐end while driving system and process transformation, including potential transition to a new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platform. This is a visible, hands‐on leadership role suited to someone who enjoys working onsite and being closely connected to both people and systems.
Key Responsibilities
* Shape the future of payroll at Darebin
* Lead end‐to‐end payroll operations, including fortnightly cycles and compliance
* Provide expert advice on legislation, Award and EBA entitlements
* Lead and support the ongoing development of the payroll team
* Drive system improvements and optimisation
* Procure and implement a Time and Attendance solution
* Partner on ERP and transformation initiatives (subject to direction)
* Oversee testing, data migration and implementation readiness
* Lead process improvement and change initiatives
* Ensure compliance, strong controls and audit readiness
* Provide advice and deliver reporting to support decision‐making
About You
* Values‐driven leader with payroll and transformation experience
* Proven experience managing payroll in a multidisciplinary organisation
* Flair for delivering system implementations and or major upgrades
* Exposure to ERP or digital transformation programs
* Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, taxation and superannuation
* Track record of leading change and improvement
* Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
* Demonstrated experience leading and fostering the ongoing development of a payroll team
* Experience working with CHRIS21 would be an advantage
