About The Role
Are you passionate about supporting young people aged 12–25? Join our dynamic team at Youthlink FYRST, where you'll play a vital role in early intervention and harm minimisation.
We are seeking a Youth Counsellor/Group Facilitator to deliver one-on-one counselling, group psychoeducation, and relapse prevention sessions to young people navigating challenges with alcohol and other drugs. This role focuses on holistic, client-centred care that promotes recovery through education, support, and empowerment.
This is a part-time, fixed-term role (3 days per week) located in Liverpool, with a salary in accordance with Level 3 of the Health Professionals and Support Services Award. The position involves some travel to schools to deliver workshops and provide outreach counselling services.
You will successfully
* Provide individual and group psychosocial counselling to young people aged between 12-25 years old who present with alcohol and other drug use
* Provide psychoeducational sessions to young people (in both group and individual sessions) focusing on the minimization of harm associated with drug and alcohol use, improved physical and psychological well-being, and the improved capacity for client autonomy and self-management
* Provide accessible information to clients, families, and other service providers about the service
* Perform comprehensive and holistic psychosocial assessments with clients to determine context/needs relating to alcohol and other drug use, mental health, physical health, and socio-environmental factors
* Facilitate regular contact and follow-up support for clients who are engaged in the program
What You Will Bring
* Qualification in counselling, psychotherapy or psychology and should be eligible for counselling accreditation body such as AASW, ACA, PACFA, or AHPRA
* Previous experience working with young people in a counselling context
* Valid NSW Working With Children's Check Clearance
* Current NSW Driver's Licence
