A little about the role
Working closely with the carer recruitment and placement team, you will lead and present high-quality foster carer assessments, reviews and transfers using KAAs and ACWA tools, ensuring that children and young people are only placed with carers that meet the standards for fostering and kinship care.
Other key responsibilities include:
* Undertaking home visits, interviews with household members, reference checks, risk assessments, safety plans and all associated assessment tasks to determine carer suitability.
* Developing clear, accurate and critically analysed assessment reports that consider carer capacity, matching needs, cultural considerations and children's best interests.
* Maintaining accurate documentation and administrative records, ensuring privacy, quality and compliance with KAA policies, procedures and safeguarding requirements.
* Supporting others across the recruitment, placement and business support teams, and contributing to recruitment activities and training where required.
The base salary for this position is $100,776.00 - $105,340.56 /annum (based on 1.0EFT) + super + vehicle & fuel card + salary packaging options up to $15,900 per annum. This position is full-time, 12-month contract.
About you
You are an experienced assessor with strong analytical, interpersonal and communication skills, able to balance thorough report writing with a compassionate, child-centred approach.
* You hold a degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services or a related Allied Health field, with at least 2 years' experience as an assessor and a background in foster care, adoption or child welfare settings.
* You bring strong skills in interviewing, critical analysis and report writing, with the ability to evaluate risk, assess parenting capacity and form clear evidence‐based recommendations.
* You communicate effectively with diverse individuals and families, demonstrating cultural awareness, sensitivity and the ability to navigate complex or challenging conversations.
* You are organised, detail‐focused and able to manage competing priorities, working both independently and collaboratively within a fast‐paced team environment.
* You show resilience, professionalism and a commitment to safeguarding, diversity, social inclusion and providing high‐quality service to carers, children and young people.
