Sport Integrity Australia are looking to fill the role of Assistant Director People Development - Executive Level 1
Our Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity to join Sport Integrity Australia’s People and Capability team in a newly established Executive Level 1 role with a strong mandate to design, build and embed workforce capability foundations.
The Assistant Director, People Development and Workforce Planning plays a strategic and hands-on leadership role in strengthening organisational capability through contemporary workforce planning, learning and development, leadership capability and recognition frameworks. Working under broad direction, the role exercises a high degree of independence, sound judgement and professional expertise to deliver initiatives that support current and future workforce needs.
This is a role for someone who enjoys operating in complexity and ambiguity, translating strategic intent into practical systems, frameworks and programs that are still being established. While the role provides high-level advice to senior leaders, it also requires a practical, delivery-focused approach to building fit-for-purpose workforce capability solutions from the ground up.
The role partners closely with senior leaders across the agency to provide evidence-based workforce advice, uplift leadership capability and embed sustainable people development practices aligned with APS employment frameworks and agency priorities.
In this role, you will:
* Lead and deliver strategic workforce planning activities, analysing workforce data, trends, risks and capability requirements to provide high-quality, evidence-based advice to senior leaders on current and future workforce needs, organisational change and priority initiatives.
* Design, build and embed contemporary workforce capability frameworks, including learning and development, leadership capability and rewards and recognition programs, ensuring alignment with organisational strategy, APS requirements and agency values.
* Translate strategic direction into practical, implementable people development initiatives, balancing long-term capability uplift with immediate operational priorities in a complex and evolving environment.
* Lead and deliver strategic workforce planning activities, analysing workforce data, trends, risks and capability requirements to provide high-quality, evidence-based advice to senior leaders on current and future workforce needs, organisational change and priority initiatives.
* Develop and implement the agency’s learning and development strategy and overarching framework, aligning learning investment with organisational priorities, workforce capability requirements and APS obligations.
* Design, build and deliver contemporary learning offerings, including core capability, leadership and professional development programs, ensuring learning solutions are practical, scalable and fit for purpose in a developing environment.
* Lead the modernisation of mandatory and agency-required training, reviewing existing requirements, uplifting content and delivery approaches, and strengthening governance, monitoring and completion processes.
* Establish and manage contemporary rewards and recognition initiatives that reinforce desired behaviours, performance and contribution, aligned with APS and agency frameworks.
* Manage the learning and development budget, ensuring effective prioritisation of resources, strong financial governance and value for money, while balancing strategic investment with operational needs.
* Manage complex projects and stakeholder relationships, exercising sound judgement, managing risk and delivering quality outcomes that may have agency-wide impact, while communicating clearly and confidently on complex workforce and capability matters.
* Contribute to business improvement and innovation within the People and Capability function by identifying opportunities to strengthen systems, tools and processes, and by actively building capability through collaboration, coaching and knowledge sharing.
* Lead leadership and professional development initiatives that build skills, resilience and inclusive leadership behaviours.
* Evaluate learning effectiveness, drive continuous improvement and provide expert advice on capability uplift strategies to support performance, retention and future workforce readiness.
* Build strong working relationships with managers, employees, legal teams, unions, APS agencies and the APSC where relevant.
* Provide clear, confident and tailored communication to support understanding of complex issues.
