The Opportunity
We’re seeking a highly organised and solutions-focused HR Advisor to join our cooperative HR team.
This role provides broad operational and advisory HR support across the Institute while acting as System Administrator for the HR Information System (TechOne). You’ll play a key role in implementing new HRIS modules, improving HR processes and supporting and advising leaders and staff across the full employee lifecycle.
This role is based on-site, Monday to Friday (9am–5pm) at our Commercial Road, Melbourne location. Given the hands-on and collaborative nature of the position, a hybrid arrangement is not available.
How you’ll make an impact
- Act as the System Administrator for the HRIS (TechOne) and lead implementation, training and user support across the Institute
- Partner with managers and staff to ensure HR practices are consistent, timely and customer-focused
- Provide HR advice and operational support across recruitment, onboarding, contracts, performance and offboarding
- Build, test and refine HR processes, documentation and workflows to drive efficiency and compliance
- Maintain HR data integrity and generate reports and dashboards to support strategic decision-making
- Manage immigration and compliance processes for international staff and visiting academics
- Manage HR communications, induction materials and intranet updates
- Contribute to policy reviews, workforce projects and HR initiatives that enhance engagement and capability
What you’ll bring
- Tertiary qualification in Human Resources or related field (essential)
- Experience as a System Administrator for an HRIS (essential), ideally with TechnologyOne (desirable)
- Extensive experience implementing new modules, training and maintaining an HRIS (essential)
- Previous experience in a Medical Research Institute or academic environment (highly desirable)
- Strong stakeholder engagement, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication, organisation and attention to detail
