Travel Weekly is seeking a Special Projects Writer to work across creative sponsored content campaigns in print and online. This is an exciting opportunity to join the leading publication for the UK travel industry and help shape the future of our commercial and editorial output.
The Special Projects Writer will work across a variety of creative commercial and editorial projects for Travel Weekly ’s print magazine and its digital and social channels.
The ideal candidate will be a confident self-starter with excellent verbal and written communication skills, a can-do attitude and a track record of successfully working across multiple short and long-term projects simultaneously.
Responsibilities include
- Writing advertorials, contributing to bespoke supplements and multimedia campaigns for a variety of clients across the travel industry
- Taking ownership of projects from start to finish, from the briefing process all the way to delivery, working closely with external clients and the in-house production team at every step
- Uploading sponsored content to the website and managing the Travel Weekly Hub online
- Contributing to editorial destination and product features for the magazine and website
- Helping to develop Travel Weekly’s social media footprint through fresh, creative content ideas, managing sponsored posts and monitoring engagement
- Managing and presenting webinars and other video or audio content to deliver on client objectives while maximising engagement with our trade audience
- Representing Travel Weekly at events across the industry, including those outside regular working hours
Essential attributes
- Ability to write fresh, engaging and tailored content for our travel trade readers
- Enthusiasm, adaptability and a can-do attitude
- Excellent organisational skills and able to juggle multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
- Excellent track record of working well with clients to deliver commercial projects to deadlines
- Understanding of best practice in social media
- Knowledge of the travel industry, particularly the travel trade
- Experience of using a CMS to upload copy and images online
- Understanding of print deadlines and production processes
- Experience with editing and proofreading print and online articles
- Experience of editing video and speaking on camera
Travel Weekly is part of B2B travel and hospitality publisher Jacobs Media, with a portfolio that also includes Aspire for the luxury travel trade; OTT, the UK’s leading travel training platform; hospitality magazine The Caterer; and an extensive portfolio of events in the UK and overseas.
Jacobs Media operates an agile working policy, with the successful candidate required to work a minimum of three days a week at the company’s head office in central London. The job will also require occasional international travel, for both editorial and commercially led trips.
