We are seeking an experienced IoT Systems Administrator to join our North Sydney based Transformation & Technology team on a 6‐month contract. This is a hands‐on operational role for someone who enjoys keeping complex systems running smoothly, solving problems calmly and methodically, and working closely with technical and business stakeholders.
The role
Your responsibilities will include:
* Operating and supporting the Smart Command system, including dashboards, alerts and integrations.
* Monitoring system health across edge gateways, cloud ingestion, digital twin services and application layers.
* Responding to and diagnosing IoT incidents across edge, network, cloud and application components.
* Supporting Raspberry Pi and other edge gateways, including connectivity, configuration and log analysis.
* Administering Azure IoT platform components, device connectivity and telemetry ingestion.
* Maintaining and improving monitoring, alerting, dashboards and operational runbooks.
* Providing clear, professional support to business users and stakeholders.
* Escalating complex issues with strong diagnostics and contributing to root cause analysis.
* Supporting ITIL‐aligned service management processes and continuous improvement initiatives.
About you
You are technically capable, operationally focused and comfortable working in a live production environment. You bring a calm, structured approach to incident response and enjoy improving system reliability and supportability.
* 3+ years' experience in a systems engineering, platform support or operations role.
* Experience supporting IoT or telemetry‐driven platforms (highly desirable).
* Strong working knowledge of Linux‐based systems, including troubleshooting and log analysis.
* Experience supporting Azure cloud services or similar platforms.
* Understanding of networking, connectivity and secure communications (certificates, keys, TLS).
* Experience with monitoring, alerting and incident management tools.
* Confidence working with runbooks and contributing to their continuous improvement.
* A tertiary qualification in IT or Engineering is preferred, along with exposure to ITIL or service management practices.
* Azure or cloud certifications are advantageous but not essential.
