About the Role
Acciona is delivering critical transmission infrastructure to support Victoria's renewable energy future. We are seeking an experienced Environmental Lead to oversee and support site‐based environmental management activities across a major construction project.
This role is primarily site‐focused and is responsible for leading a team of environmental advisors/coordinators, ensuring compliance with environmental approvals and management plans, and driving strong environmental and sustainability outcomes throughout construction delivery. You will play a pivotal leadership role, working closely with construction teams, engineers, sustainability specialists, and key stakeholders to ensure environmental commitments are met and continuously improved.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead site‐based environmental management to ensure compliance with the Construction Environmental Management Plan (CEMP), sub‐plans, approvals, and legislative requirements.
* Provide leadership, mentoring, and development for environmental advisors and coordinators, fostering a strong performance and safety culture.
* Develop, review, and update environmental documentation, including CEMP, procedures, worksite environmental management plans, and environmental control plans.
* Drive environmental and sustainability performance by promoting best practice and integrating environmental considerations into construction activities.
* Conduct and oversee environmental monitoring, inspections, audits, and incident investigations, ensuring timely reporting and close‐out of non‐conformances.
* Liaise with construction teams, engineers, clients, and stakeholders on environmental issues, approvals, and improvement opportunities.
* Support reporting, systems, and budgets, including maintaining environmental records, contributing to reporting, and assisting with environmental budget management and invoice approvals.
Required Skills and Competencies
* Tertiary qualification in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
* 10+ years' experience applying environmental management principles within the construction or infrastructure sector.
* Strong working knowledge of environmental legislation, approvals, and compliance requirements (state and Commonwealth).
* Proven leadership capability, with experience managing and developing site‐based environmental teams.
* Highly developed communication and stakeholder engagement skills, particularly in site and construction environments.
* Strong planning, organisation, and reporting skills, including experience with audits, inspections, and management systems.
Location and Conditions
This is a regional role and includes the provision to be based at the camp as required.
