Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Painter to join our team. As a key member of our operations, you will be responsible for applying paint, varnish, wallpaper and other finishes to protect, maintain and decorate surfaces of buildings and structures.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Erect scaffolding and ladders, and place drop sheets to protect adjacent areas from paint splattering
* Prepare surfaces by removing old paint and wallpaper, fixing woodwork, filling holes and cracks, and smoothing and sealing surfaces
* Select and prepare paints to required colours by mixing portions of pigment, oil, and thinning and drying additives
* Apply paints, varnishes and stains to surfaces using brushes, rollers and sprays
* Hang wallpaper, matching patterns and trimming edges
* Clean equipment and work areas
* May repair windows and replace glass in wooden and metal frames
* Client communication: Work with clients to understand project requirements and provide advice on materials and colors.
Additional Duties
* Safety: Adhere to safety rules and regulations at all times.
* Equipment and site management: Set up and take down scaffolding, and ensure all equipment is clean and well-maintained at the end of each shift.
* Cleanup: Remove old paint, clean up spills and debris, and leave the worksite clean and tidy.
* Other tasks: Some roles may involve hanging drywall or applying wallpaper.
