Join us at the Tasmanian Aboriginal Centre (TAC) and play a key role in strengthening culturally safe, community‑controlled health care for Aboriginal people across lutruwita/Tasmania.
We are looking for a skilled and values‑driven Health Information Officer to ensure our health information systems remain accurate, secure and responsive to community needs. This is a meaningful opportunity to support better health outcomes for the Aboriginal community.
What You’ll Be Doing
In this role, you will help keep our statewide health services running smoothly by managing and improving a range of digital health systems and tools. Your work will support clinical teams, strengthen data quality and contribute directly to improved health outcomes.
You will:
* Maintain, support and enhance Communicare
* Build, manage and update statewide health registers
* Integrate external health data and ensure data accuracy
* Develop templates, dashboards and reports for clinical teams and management
* Support telehealth and digital health platforms
* Manage My Health Record access, compliance and privacy
* Assist with Medicare provider setup, PRODA, HPOS and incentive programs
* Deliver training and support to Aboriginal Health Service staff
* Coordinate AHS computer security practices and protocols
* Supervise and mentor Health Information Workers
About You
You’re someone who enjoys problem‑solving, improving systems and helping others build their digital confidence. You’ll bring:
* A tertiary qualification in information management or information systems
* An understanding of Aboriginal health and the importance of Aboriginal community control service provision.
* Experience working with information systems, databases and digital security
* Clear communication and training skills
* Strong organisational and leadership ability
* A commitment to Aboriginal self‑determination and culturally safe practice
* Knowledge of Communicare or an equivalent electronic medical records (EMR) platform, or the demonstrated capacity to quickly acquire proficiency in the Communicare system
