Want to be part of a true values-based organization making a difference to people’s lives with a disability?

Come and join us on the Northwest coast of Tasmania as a Support Professional.

About us:

Possability is an Australian non-profit organization providing a range of quality individual and flexible support options, supported accommodation, employment and training, respite, and intensive support for people with disabilities and children and young people with a history of adversity. Possability operates in Tasmania, Victoria, and Queensland.

Our vision is for a world where everyone has the opportunity to pursue their potential. We aim to be catalysts for change in the community and in the lives of those we serve. We believe in fundamental human rights to freedom and independence. We are committed to providing responsive and flexible services tailored to individual needs to help people achieve their personal goals.

About the role:

This role makes a real difference in people's lives. We encourage you to bring your whole person to work—your compassion, resilience, sense of humor, and creativity. You will work independently or with colleagues to undertake direct care activities as specified in personal care plans.

As a casual Support Professional, you will work across sites with varying care needs. This is a SCHADS Award level 2 role.

In this role you will:

Provide direct care, including skills development and promoting independence within the home and community. Tasks may include personal care activities (showering, toileting, dressing), medication management, financial management, meal preparation, household shopping, ironing, basic gardening, cleaning, pet care, and other home maintenance. We apply active support principles to encourage participation at a comfortable level for each individual.

Complete administrative duties such as shift reports, incident reports, communication diaries, program notes, WHS checklists, and financial reconciliation, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

Support individuals with behavior management strategies established by our experienced Behavior Support Practitioners, ensuring high standards of care.

Qualifications:

We value shared organizational values over formal qualifications. Relevant experience and qualifications are desirable but not mandatory. A current, unrestricted driver’s license is required. We welcome diverse life experiences, and qualities such as empathy, flexibility, and a belief in personal growth are important. Please share your skills, experience, and interests outside of work to help us match you with suitable clients.

Requirements:

* A current and unrestricted driver’s license.
* A strong desire to positively impact people with disabilities and support their individual needs, skills, and goals.
* Ability and willingness to implement Person-Centred Practices.
* Empathy, resilience, patience.
* Ability to work independently and in teams.
* IT skills for using Microsoft Office, completing reports, diaries, and notes.
* Good verbal and written communication skills.
* Commitment to working with diverse cultures.
