About the role:
This role makes a real difference in people's lives. We encourage you to bring your whole person to work—your compassion, resilience, sense of humor, and creativity. You will work independently or with colleagues to undertake direct care activities as specified in personal care plans.
As a casual Support Professional, you will work across sites with varying care needs. This is a SCHADS Award level 2 role.
In this role you will:
Provide direct care, including skills development and promoting independence within the home and community. Tasks may include personal care activities (showering, toileting, dressing), medication management, financial management, meal preparation, household shopping, ironing, basic gardening, cleaning, pet care, and other home maintenance. We apply active support principles to encourage participation at a comfortable level for each individual.
Complete administrative duties such as shift reports, incident reports, communication diaries, program notes, WHS checklists, and financial reconciliation, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Support individuals with behavior management strategies established by our experienced Behavior Support Practitioners, ensuring high standards of care.
Qualifications:
We value shared organizational values over formal qualifications. Relevant experience and qualifications are desirable but not mandatory. A current, unrestricted driver’s license is required. We welcome diverse life experiences, and qualities such as empathy, flexibility, and a belief in personal growth are important. Please share your skills, experience, and interests outside of work to help us match you with suitable clients.
Requirements:
* A current and unrestricted driver’s license.
* A strong desire to positively impact people with disabilities and support their individual needs, skills, and goals.
* Ability and willingness to implement Person-Centred Practices.
* Empathy, resilience, patience.
* Ability to work independently and in teams.
* IT skills for using Microsoft Office, completing reports, diaries, and notes.
* Good verbal and written communication skills.
* Commitment to working with diverse cultures.
* Professional behavior.
* Relevant community services experience and qualifications are desirable.
* First aid, medication, and manual handling training are desirable but can be provided during training.
