The ACT Parks and Conservation Service is seeking a motivated person to deliver small to medium scale ecological restoration projects for the Parks and Conservation Service.
The position will work across the Murrumbidgee River Corridor and Canberra Nature Park North on two separate projects, a riparian zone improvement project and a woodland habitat project.
Additional projects may develop over the period of this role which may cover other areas within the Parks and Conservation Service estate.
The role involves working collaboratively with Office of Water, Office of Nature Conservation, ACT Natural Resource Management, Traditional Owners and various other stakeholders to develop and implement restoration plans on the Parks and Conservation Service estate.
Eligibility/Other Requirements: The successful applicant may be required to pass a pre-employment medical assessment.
Mandatory: Tertiary qualifications in environmental management, environmental science, natural resource management, or related disciplines.
Willingness and ability to conduct fieldwork activities including occasionally in uncomfortable weather conditions.
ACT Drivers licence (Class C) and ability to operate a 4WD vehicle with a willingness to attend 4WD training including for recovery operations.
Highly Desirable: Experience in implementing ecological restoration projects and a knowledge of local vegetation communities and ecological values.
Experience using computer applications appropriate to the work area including Microsoft Office suite and ArcGIS.
A current First Aid Certificate.
Notes: This is a temporary position available immediately until 01 December ****.
An order of merit will be established from this selection process and may be used to fill future identical vacancies over the next 12 months.
