What You'll Be Doing
* Produce and maintain a broad range of technical documents including specifications, test procedures, engineering reports, user manuals, safety cases, and interface control documents
* Translate complex engineering information into clear, concise, and accurate written content tailored to both technical and non-technical audiences
* Develop and manage document templates, style guides, and standards to ensure consistency across all publications
* Coordinate document reviews, incorporate feedback, and manage revision cycles through to approval and release
* Work directly with mechanical, electrical, and systems engineers to extract and validate technical content
* Liaise with project managers to align documentation schedules with program milestones and deliverables
* Support configuration management activities by maintaining accurate document registers and version control records
* Ensure all documentation complies with applicable defence standards including AS9100, MIL-STD, and Export Control requirements where relevant
* Identify and drive continuous improvement across documentation processes, tools, and workflows
What You Bring
* Tertiary qualification in Technical Communication, English, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent demonstrated experience
* Minimum 3+ years in a technical writing role, ideally within defence, aerospace, engineering, or a similarly regulated industry
* Demonstrated ability to interpret and document complex technical subject matter with accuracy and clarity
* Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, and document control or configuration management systems
* Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple concurrent deliverables to tight deadlines
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a collaborative working style
* Australian Citizenship is mandatory
What Will Make You Stand Out
* Familiarity with defence documentation standards and structured authoring frameworks such as S1000D and ASD STE100
* Experience with XML-based authoring tools or content management systems
* Exposure to systems engineering environments and model-based systems engineering outputs
* Experience with JIRA, Confluence, SharePoint, or similar project and document management platforms
* Understanding of complex engineering programs within a defence or regulated manufacturing context
