El Dorado Contractors is a family‐owned civil construction business based in Melbourne, with over 40 years of experience in the industry. We specialise in services such as bulk excavation, basement retention, piling, site remediation, and transport.
We are currently seeking an experienced Plant Operator to join our team. In this role you will operate machinery and plant equipment on construction sites, ensuring that tasks are completed efficiently, safely, and in line with project requirements. You'll play a key role in the execution of basement retention projects, contributing to the success of the team and the overall project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
* Operate a variety of excavators.
* Perform pre‐start checks and routine maintenance to ensure the safe and efficient operation of plant equipment.
* Work closely with the onsite foreman to execute daily operations and meet project timelines.
* Follow all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
* Assist with material handling, loading, and unloading as needed.
* Ensure plant equipment is properly maintained and report any mechanical issues to the onsite foreman.
* Adhere to all relevant environmental and regulatory guidelines on‐site.
* Keep accurate records of machinery usage, fuel consumption, and maintenance activities.
* Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders to support the smooth flow of operations.
Requirements
* Proven experience operating heavy plant machinery in civil construction or similar industries.
* Valid plant operator tickets/certifications (e.g., Excavator, Skid Steer, Front End Loader, etc.).
* Strong understanding of construction site safety practices and regulations.
* Excellent problem‐solving skills.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow instructions.
* Be able to perform manual labour if needed.
* A positive attitude and a strong work ethic.
* White Card (Construction Induction) required.
* A current driver's licence (preferred).

Pay: $40.00 – $50.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
Licence/Certification: Excavator Ticket (preferred)
