About Student Support Services
Student Support Services works in partnership with schools and preschools to support children and young people with additional needs. Psychologists within SSS play a vital role in delivering evidence-based psychological services to assist students with developmental, cognitive, social, emotional, behavioural, and physical difficulties.
Our teams include psychologists, speech pathologists, social workers, special educators, and other professionals, working collaboratively to deliver integrated and targeted support. Psychologists are instrumental in addressing the growing complexity of learner needs, including co-existing conditions such as autism, ADHD, trauma-related challenges, and mental health issues.
We are committed to culturally responsive practice, inclusive education, and supporting children and families across diverse communities—particularly in regional, remote, and Aboriginal contexts.
About the roles:
AHP1 – Provisional Psychologist
The provisional psychologist is a member of an inter-disciplinary team and works with children and young people with developmental, cognitive, social, emotional, behavioural and physical difficulties, and exceptional needs (including giftedness) and their families. The provisional psychologist works under the supervision of the Senior Psychologist and/or other psychology supervisors and works with preschool and school staff, and parents to develop evidence-based psychology interventions that include proactive, targeted and intensive strategies that can be adapted for learning and home contexts. The provisional psychologist works under the direct professional supervision and direction of the Senior Psychologist and/or other agreed supervisor, in accordance with the requirements of provisional psychologists of the Psychology Board of Australia.
AHP2 – Psychologist
The Psychologist is a member of an inter-disciplinary team and works with children and young people with developmental, cognitive, social, emotional, behavioural and physical difficulties, and exceptional needs (including giftedness) and their families. The Psychologist works with preschool and school staff, and parents to develop evidence-based psychology interventions that include proactive, targeted and intensive strategies that can be adapted for learning and home contexts.
This position works under the professional support and direction of the Senior Psychologist.
AHP3 – Psychologist
The Psychologist at this level has demonstrated specialisation and expertise in working with children and young people with additional and complex needs and will be required to provide expert professional support and supervision to other Psychologists as well as maintain a professional caseload.

Qualifications
AHP1 – Psychologist
Essential: An appropriate degree or equivalent which entitles registration (provisional) with the Psychology Board of Australia
Desirable: Nil
AHP2 – Psychologist
Essential: Current and full registration (general) with the Psychology Board of Australia
Desirable: Nil
AHP3 – Psychologist
Essential: Current and full registration (general) with the Psychology Board of Australia. Psychology Board of Australia approved supervisor
Desirable: Area of practice endorsement – educational and developmental psychology and/or clinical psychology and/or counselling psychology
Special conditions
The successful applicant is required to gain a Department for Human Services (DHS) working with children check (WWCC) prior to being employed which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry.
The incumbent will be required to undertake RRHAN –EC (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect - Education Care) Facilitator Lead (Masterclass) extended course or the online (Fundamentals) course which will be required to be updated every three years.

Remuneration
AHP1 $71,217 - $86,938 per annum (1.0 FTE) + superannuation (12%) + leave loading and applicable allowances.
AHP2 $91,785 - $106,330 per annum (1.0 FTE) + superannuation (12%) + leave loading and applicable allowances.
AHP3 $108,347 - $116,216 per annum (1.0 FTE) + superannuation (12%) + leave loading and applicable allowances.
