About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled leader to oversee our vineyards and integrated sheep flock. This individual will be responsible for driving fruit quality, implementing sustainability initiatives, and innovation as we expand plantings and refine our Italian-inspired portfolio.
* Operate and maintain tractors, spray rigs, and other machinery, ensuring optimal performance and safety standards.
* Develop and execute seasonal vineyard programs, including pruning, canopy management, nutrition, irrigation, and yield management.
* Monitor and manage pest, disease, and biosecurity risks, taking proactive measures to prevent damage to our crops.
* Optimize water scheduling and soil-health strategies, minimizing our environmental impact and promoting sustainable practices.
* Lead the vineyard team, providing training, coordinating contractors, and ensuring a safe working environment.
* Provide accurate yield estimates, maturity sampling, and vintage logistics to the winemaking team, supporting the production of high-quality wines.
* Assist in managing our 1200 head sheep flock, integrating livestock into our vineyard operations.
About You:
To succeed in this role, you will need to demonstrate:
* Experience with operating and maintaining farm machinery, including tractors and spray rigs.
* A strong understanding of sustainable and regenerative practices, including soil conservation and water management.
* Animal husbandry skills, preferably with experience managing sheep flocks.
* ChemCert or spray qualifications, a current driver's license, and forklift license, if applicable.
* Proven leadership skills, record-keeping abilities, and budget management experience.
* A passion for farming and a can-do attitude, driving you to achieve excellence in your work.
