The role
We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join our Economic and Destination Development team as a Tourism Industry Development Officer. In this role, you will drive the strategic development and enhancement of the tourism industry and visitor economy across the MidCoast, helping to attract, retain, and develop new tourism products and experiences that raise the profile of our region. A key focus will be leading the delivery of actions outlined in the MidCoast Destination Management Plan, ensuring our visitor economy continues to grow and thrive.
On a day-to-day basis, you will:
* Lead the implementation of the Destination Management Plan and support actions within the Visitor Services Strategy.
* Work closely with local tourism operators to strengthen and grow their businesses.
* Monitor industry performance by tracking key trends and conducting research.
* Build and maintain strong partnerships with government and industry stakeholders to unlock funding and investment opportunities.
* Manage the research, preparation, and acquittal of tourism-related grants and funding applications.
What you'll bring
* Tertiary qualifications in Tourism, Economic Development or relevant experience
* Understanding of Local Government and the role it plays in further development of regional economies
* Experience in working with business/industry groups delivering benefits
* Competency in data entry, Microsoft office software and other technologies
* Excellent time management skills with proven ability to prioritise
* Class C drivers licence

Salary: Commencing salary package range circa $74,700 to $89,700 dependent on past skills and experience plus superannuation.
Location: This position will be based at our Administration Centre in Yalawanyi Ganya at 2 Biripi Way, Taree. You may also be required to be based from other Council sites across the MidCoast Council region.
Tenure: Permanent, Full Time.
