The Company: Our client operates a well-established underground coal mining operation in Central Queensland, supported by a high-performing and close-knit commercial team onsite. With a strong focus on operational performance, this is a business where finance is embedded in the day-to-day running of the mine, not removed from it. The team works closely with site operations, providing real-time insight and support across cost, production, and commercial decision-making. The Appointment: This is not a senior or corporate accounting role, it is a hands-on, operational finance position where you will take full ownership of your portfolio and play a key role in supporting site performance. Key responsibilities include: Full ownership of end-of-month processes Leading and contributing to cost review meetings Management of fixed assets, accruals, AP/AR and general ledger End-to-end cost control and reporting across site operations Acting as a key point of contact onsite — a true go-to person for finance Working across a broader remit including contracts, procurement and warehouse The Appointee: We are seeking a technically strong, hands-on accountant who thrives in an operational environment. You will bring: Proven experience in mining accounting (essential) Strong capability across end-to-end accounting processes The ability to work autonomously and take ownership of your responsibilities Confidence to engage with stakeholders across site in a visible, approachable role A practical mindset with the ability to support both finance and operational team We are looking for someone who enjoys being close to operations and adding value onsite.
