About the Position:
The Environmental Manager oversees all environmental and sustainability initiatives for construction projects across RAAF Base Darwin.
This role ensures compliance with Defence, Commonwealth, and Territory environmental regulations through effective planning, execution, and monitoring.
* Manage the Construction Environmental Management Plan (CEMP) and secure Environmental Clearance Certificates (ECCs).
* Implement PFAS and asbestos protocols, and manage construction waste in accordance with Defence frameworks and regulations.
* Oversee project compliance with sustainability targets through accurate recordkeeping and reporting.
Responsibilities:
* Develop and maintain the approved CEMP and associated sub-plans.
* Conduct regular environmental audits, inspections, and monitoring for compliance with project specifications and NT EPA requirements.
* Ensure prompt incident reporting in accordance with NAVFAC and Defence protocols.
* Maintain environmental records including inspection reports and approvals for site activities.
* Supervise subcontractor compliance with environmental requirements and provide on-site guidance as needed.
* Develop and maintain the project-specific Sustainability eNotebook, ensuring that all milestones and documentation meet Defence and U.S. DoD standards.
* Collaborate with design, procurement, and QC teams to verify sustainability measures during material selection and installation.
* Represent the environmental and sustainability functions in project meetings.
Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Sustainability, or a closely related field.
* Minimum of 5 years' experience in environmental management within large-scale construction or infrastructure projects.
* Demonstrated knowledge of Commonwealth, NT, and Defence environmental regulations.
