The Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic applicant for the position as a Handyman in the facilities team with United NT Disability Services. You will work closely with management in delivering transport, gardening and maintenance services.
The role is broken into four key areas:
Maintenance / Handyman
* Responsible for general maintenance and routine care of the SIL houses, including repairs on doors, fences, gates, furniture assembly, light globes, handrails, door handles and picture frames.
* Attend to and action all maintenance requests whilst undertaking preventive maintenance activities for all SIL properties across Darwin.
* Ensure all SIL properties are free from rubbish, debris and are safe for our participants and employees.
* Report all breakdowns in equipment and keep records.
* Undertake regular audits and inspections on facility equipment, the grounds and houses to ensure there are no work, health and safety issues.
* Complete required documentation for completion of work requests.
Gardening and Grounds
* Garden maintenance includes mowing, pruning, gutter cleaning, hedge trimming, weeding, mulching, replanting, fertilising and fawn removal.
* Attend to all gardening work requests and schedule work accordingly.
* Document and report completed work requests or issue further work requests.
* Clean and maintain pool and pool area in accordance with procedures.
Bus Driver
United NTDS has several buses in our fleet with numerous community access appointments scheduled throughout the week. The successful applicant may have to at times provide safe transportation of our disability participants and support workers to and from residential houses in the Darwin area.
Vehicle Fleet
United NT has a fleet of over 20 vehicles that need regular servicing and inspections. The successful applicant will manage the fleet in accordance with the directions from the Director of Operations.
This is a full‐time position with 38 hours per week. The working week is Mon – Fri, with flexible working hours between 7am – 4.30pm. Maximum of 8 hours per day with 30‐minute lunch break.
Qualifications
* Current NT C class licence (manual)
* NDIS Clearance Screening Check (or prepared to apply for one)
* Current Police Check (no more than 3 months old) with current 5-year driving history
* Current First Aid and CPR certificate
* COVID‐19 vaccinations up to date
Skills and Experience

* Ability to drive both a manual and automatic transmission buses
* Relevant experience working in grounds, garden and handyman roles
* Ability to work independently or in a team
