Position Title: Education Focused Academics (Sydney Horizon Educators) – Faculty of Science, The University of Sydney
Salary: $156,103 p.a. – $207,069 p.a. (pro‐rata for part‐time appointments) + 17% superannuationPart/Full: Full Time

About The Opportunity
The University of Sydney welcomes applications for Education Focused Academics in the areas outlined below, in line with the Enterprise Agreement 2023-26. Successful candidates will join the Sydney Horizon Educators cohort and contribute to teaching, research and governance in a specialised category of academic engagement. The role focuses on excellence in educational practice and innovation as well as research capability in disciplinary and/or education‐related areas.
Your Key Responsibilities Will Be To
* Lead educational innovation, curriculum design and review, contributing to outstanding delivery and outcomes
* Design and deliver high‐quality teaching and learning experiences that meet university standards
* Deliver outstanding teaching and learning outcomes for students
* Develop teaching and unit materials with senior academics
* Maintain relevant Work, Health and Safety requirements including laboratory and/or field work
* Contribute to knowledge through scholarly research, particularly in teaching and learning in your discipline
* Develop and refine education research skills, evaluating and improving teaching and learning
* Maintain high standards of educational activities and output
* Contribute to governance, leadership and engagement work in your school
About You
* PhD or nearly‐completed PhD in a relevant academic field
* Experience in assessment, feedback and learning by design
* Experience in outstanding educational design, delivery and evaluation
* Track record of high‐quality research outputs appropriate to the discipline or education in the discipline
* Developing network of relationships with academic, industry or professional partners
* Experience supervising or mentoring others and coordinating team activities
* Commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching
* Sound experience of teaching and learning at undergraduate, honours and postgraduate levels
* Proven experience in designing, implementing and evaluating teaching and learning initiatives
* Excellent teaching, learning, and assessment practice evidence from feedback
* Capacity to engage students and provide an inclusive learning environment
* High level of interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, reinforcing equity, diversity and inclusion principles
