System Administrator

About the Opportunity
Cleared Recruitment is partnering with a Federal Government Department to engage a System Administrator to support a high-security, mission-critical program. This role sits within a specialist team delivering and supporting containerised data processing environments, underpinning advanced analytics and forensic capabilities.
The Role
You will be responsible for the design, deployment and management of Kubernetes-based environments and open‐source applications, ensuring systems are secure, scalable, and highly available. You'll also play a key role in data ingestion, automation, and DevOps practices, helping drive efficiency across the platform.
Key Responsibilities
* Design and manage Kubernetes (K8s) environments for scalable applications
* Build and maintain data ingestion and processing pipelines
* Automate workflows using Python and Ansible
* Manage cluster security (RBAC, secrets management, hardening)
* Monitor system performance, health, and availability
* Troubleshoot complex issues across distributed systems
* Support DevOps initiatives including CI/CD pipelines
* Develop and maintain technical documentation and deployment artefacts
* Collaborate with engineers, analysts, and stakeholders
Required Experience
* 3+ years experience in System Administration or DevOps roles
* Strong Kubernetes experience (deployment, configuration, operations)
* Strong Python scripting capability
* Solid Linux administration and troubleshooting skills
* Experience with automation tools (Ansible, Terraform, etc.)
* Experience designing or supporting data pipelines and large datasets
* Experience working with open‐source platforms and dependencies
* Exposure to CI/CD practices and DevOps environments
* Strong problem‐solving and communication skills
Highly Desirable
* Experience working in secure or classified environments
* Exposure to forensic or data analytics platforms
* Knowledge of cyber security best practices
* Experience contributing to engineering standards and processes
Qualifications
* Tertiary qualification in IT or related field (desirable)
Security Requirements
* Must be an Australian Citizen
* Active TSPV clearance required (TSPA considered)
