Reporting to the Chief Finance Officer, the Insurance Accountant is responsible for the meticulous execution of insurance technical accounting processes, encompassing the management of premiums, commissions, claims, and technical reserves.
The role is pivotal in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records related to insurance transactions.
Furthermore, the Insurance Accountant will be instrumental in driving the transformation of our legal framework and spearheading the implementation of a new, advanced accounting tool.
This position demands a high level of expertise in both local and international accounting standards, particularly IFRS17, and requires a proactive approach to identifying and addressing financial discrepancies and opportunities for improvement.Key Responsibilities:Prepare and maintain accurate financial records for insurance transactions, including premiums, claims, and reinsurance.Contribute to month-end closing for insurance technical accounting.Contribute to local gap accounting and group consolidation in IFRS17.Aid in the testing and implementation of the new accounting tool in 2025 for both Australia and New Zealand.Analyse financial data to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement.Ensure compliance with industry regulations and company policies.Collaborate with other departments to provide financial insights and support decision-making processes.Assist with internal and external audits.Contribute to required accounting and finance controls related to insurance technical accounting.Perform ad-hoc duties related to insurance technical accounting.Required Experience and Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.CPA or equivalent certification preferred.Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting, preferably within the insurance industry.Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.Strong attention to detail and accuracy.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Join EAA in Sydney and contribute to our mission of providing tailored and reliable travel insurance solutions to the Australian market.
