The Northern Rivers Wildlife Hospital (NRWH) is a community‐owned, not‐for‐profit organisation providing free, expert veterinary treatment and rehabilitation for sick, injured and orphaned native wildlife across the Northern Rivers region.
We are seeking a values‐driven General Manager to provide leadership during a parental leave period. This is a senior role with responsibility for operational delivery, financial and governance support and leadership within a mission‐based environment.
About the Role
Reporting to the NRWH Board, the General Manager holds delegated authority for day‐to‐day operations and works in close partnership with senior veterinary staff to ensure the hospital operates safely, efficiently and sustainably.
Key responsibilities include:
* Providing inclusive, respectful leadership to staff and volunteers
* Managing daily operations, systems, facilities and WHS
* Overseeing budgets, financial controls, payroll oversight and reporting
* Supporting Board governance, compliance and risk management
* Ensuring compliance with veterinary, wildlife, WHS and charity regulations
* Building strong relationships with wildlife carers, regulators, funders and community partners
Please note that this position is providing Parental Leave Cover for our General Manager.
About You
You are a capable, ethical and collaborative leader with:
* Senior management experience in a veterinary hospital
* Strong operational and financial management skills
* Sound understanding of governance, compliance and risk
* Excellent communication and leadership capability
Experience in the veterinary care of wildlife or wildlife rehabilitation, conservation and the not‐for‐profit sector is highly regarded.
