We are seeking a dynamic Deputy Principal to join our dedicated team at Yugumbir State School. This is a temporary full-time position commencing 02 March 2026 until 11 December 2026, unless otherwise determined. Yugumbir State School is a cohesive school community striving to achieve individual excellence for every student.

The school has a rigorous teaching and learning program designed to cater for the range of learning needs of all students. Classrooms are positive, nurturing environments in which students are encouraged, supported and positively challenged to learn, achieving the highest individual standard possible.

The school staff are very professional and forward-thinking. Our developmental agenda, especially in numeracy and literacy, is targeted at maximising the learning of each child, with a strong focus on a whole-school approach. School leaders, teachers and teacher aides work cohesively to maximise student achievement.

The school has a strong focus on the early years of schooling. Prep students are well supported through their introduction to the school. Classrooms are nurturing environments, in which each student is encouraged to begin their academic learning. A Pre-Prep program supports prospective students and their parents to introduce their child to the school, prior to formal entry to Prep.

About The Role
Responsibilities include, but not limited to;

* Support the Principal in leading a shared, future-focused vision that delivers high-quality learning outcomes for all students, and deputise when required.
* Uphold the deputy principalship as an ethical, values-based role that embeds socially just practices in everyday school life.
* Set and maintain high standards for student achievement, staff performance, and professional conduct.
* Build strong partnerships with parents, community groups, government agencies, industry and business.
* Manage resources strategically, informed by relevant legislation and policy, while engaging in ongoing professional learning.

Highly desirable skills and experience;

* Demonstrated a comprehensive knowledge, understanding and leadership of a reading improvement agenda, which has resulted in improved student outcomes.
* Strong understanding of the K-12 framework and Australian Curriculum V9.
* Be a TEAM player with excellent communication skills.
* Prior experience in a Deputy Principal role is desirable.
