MacDonald Law is a growing boutique practice that is well regarded for its expertise in Criminal, Family, Succession and Property law.
The role is a position open for someone who is admitted as a solicitor or is about to be admitted as a solicitor. Applicants with experience as a family law clerk or as a family lawyer will be favourable.
The successful applicant would join a fast-paced team of family lawyers who appear in courts across South-West Queensland: from Toowoomba, Brisbane, Gold Coast and the western region. We also service clients across Australia, except in Western Australia. MacDonald Law has offices in Toowoomba, Brisbane and the Gold Coast. This role will be based in Toowoomba predominantly but will require travel to other offices and courts across Queensland from time to time.
The opportunity will afford the successful applicant an environment to expand their legal knowledge, advocacy and skills. The current team consists of a number of experienced and well-respected family lawyers who will work collaboratively on a day to day basis. The Family Law Team is led by Sarah-Jane MacDonald who is an Accredited Family Law Specialist.
The successful applicant will have a strong desire to work on all manner of family law matters including parenting, property settlements, and domestic violence matters. The role requires you to work on a wide variety of matters from simple divorce matters to complex parenting and multi-million-dollar property matters.

You will also have the opportunity to become accredited as a provider of the Domestic & Family Violence Duty Lawyer Service.
Your role will include:
* Management of files
* Appearances in Court (both the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia as well as the Magistrates Court)
* Effective time management
* Client management
* Ability to work well with support staff and manage delegation of tasks within the team
* Provision of appropriate and considered legal advice
* Instructing counsel on complex matters in the Federal Circuit and Family Court, and the Magistrates Court
* Other tasks as delegated by the Director and Accredited Family Law Specialist
Required
* Must be admitted as a Legal Practitioner within the State of Queensland and be the holder of (or be eligible for immediate acquisition of) a current Practising Certificate;
* Hold a current Driver Licence and be willing to drive for work (essential);
* Be organised and have excellent time management skills;
* Have the ability to work independently, but also in a team.
As this role involves travel between court houses, applicants must have a drivers licence and motor vehicle.
Salary is commensurate with experience.
