The Head of Occupational Therapy effectively manages the human, physical and financial resources of Occupational Therapy Services to ensure high quality, efficient provision of Occupational Therapy in line with the strategic objectives of the Agency. The position also actively participates in the Allied Health Advisory Committee and represents Occupational Therapy and Allied Health as required.

The Team:

Based in beautiful Nipaluna/Hobart, the Occupational Therapy team is an energetic, creative, supportive group of individuals who are drawn together by the values of Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Excellence. Occupational Therapy is integral to multi-disciplinary teams and services across the continuum of care from community services across Southern Tasmania, to the state's tertiary care hospital. We have a particular focus on growing the OT workforce through partnership with the University of Tasmania, and through programs that support new graduate staff.

The Role:

The Head of Occupational Therapy drives a culture of excellence within the Occupational Therapy Service, managing a large department, working strategically to deliver what the community needs, and bringing out the best in our workforce. As part of the Allied Health Advisory Committee, the Head of Occupational Therapy also provides leadership across Allied Health and within the broader organisation.

You will need:

* Demonstrated extensive clinical practice expertise and experience, knowledge of professional and clinical governance and a broad understanding of contemporary health service delivery issues relating to the provision of Occupational Therapy services in the publicly funded health system.
* Proven high level management experience in an acute tertiary referral Occupational Therapy service and the capacity to provide professional leadership, vision and a contemporary approach to Occupational Therapy management.
* Demonstrated high level experience in resource management, together with the ability to develop and implement strategies that monitor service delivery effectiveness and efficiency.

Details of appointment:

Permanent full time, day worker position, working 76hours per fortnight, commencing 1 October 2025.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary:$143,677 to $160,625 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

* Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No. 2 of 2022
