About the role
Nest Newborn Clinic on the Gold Coast is seeking paediatricians to join our growing service and help establish Nest Children's - an integrated extension of our newborn care model into infancy and childhood.
Rather than spending years building a private practice from scratch, or joining a large group with diluted referrals, Nest offers a rare opportunity to step into a ready-made, high-quality role that is clinically stimulating, financially rewarding, and intentionally designed for family-friendly balance.
You'll work alongside a core subspecialty team of two consultant neonatologists, a neonatal nurse practitioner and a paediatric nurse, caring for infants and children in brand-new consulting suites. You'll inherit a steady stream of hundreds of newborn families via our structured follow-up pathway, alongside a strong and expanding obstetric referral base, experienced practice support, and fully developed private-practice infrastructure.
This role is ideal for paediatricians who want to practise excellent medicine, build a sustainable private practice, and be part of shaping something meaningful from an early stage.
-----------------------------------
What you'll be doing
* Providing outpatient paediatric care for infants, toddlers and older children.
* Leading structured newborn follow-ups at 4 and 6 months, with continuity of care through childhood.
* Collaborating closely with neonatology, nursing and obstetric colleagues to deliver seamless, family-centred care.
* Contributing to service growth, education, quality improvement and (if desired) research or teaching.
* Limited inpatient load: some elective caesareans and on-call cover to support the newborn service, no inpatient general paediatrics required, neonatal inpatients handed over to the neonatology team.
-----------------------------------
About you
* FRACP (General Paediatrics) or nearing completion. AHPRA specialist registration (or eligibility).
* Interest in newborn/early infant care.
* A warm, collegial and family-centred clinical style.
* Keen to build a long-term private practice within a supportive, values-driven team.
-----------------------------------
Why join us?
* Purpose-built consulting environment — brand-new, premium suites at RDX Lumina, a state-of-the-art health and research building designed for modern specialist practice - with natural light, thoughtful layout, easy parking and a calm, family-friendly feel.
* Health & innovation precinct — located within the Gold Coast Health & Knowledge Precinct (GCHKP), one of Australia's fastest-growing health, research and education hubs, alongside major hospitals, universities, research institutes and allied health services.
* Built-in referral base — hundreds of newborn families per year handed over at 4 and 6 months, supported expanding obstetric and midwifery referral pathways, with clear scope to grow your own general paediatric caseload.
* Excellent remuneration — consultant-level earnings (typically ~$300k+ p.a.) while working part-time (~0.5 FTE), with strong potential to scale as your practice grows.
* Lifestyle-friendly — limited on-call and inpatient work, protected clinic time, flexible scheduling and built-in leave cover.
* Academic links — opportunities with Griffith and Bond Universities for teaching, quality improvement and research, if desired.
* Gold Coast lifestyle — 300+ days of sunshine, beaches, hinterland, excellent schools and outstanding family amenities.
