Northern Peninsula Area State College (NPASC) is seeking to fill a vacancy for the position of Guidance Officer – Student Wellbeing – 0.4 FTE across the 3 campuses of the college and 0.6 FTE general Guidance duties at Ama Mary Eseli Injinoo Primary Campus.

If you are an experienced, energetic, enthusiastic and professional Guidance Officer, you have the opportunity to join the NPASC community commencing Term 2, 2026 until end of 2027.

The College

Northern Peninsular Area State College is situated on the tip of Cape York Peninsula. The College (NPASC) is a K‐12 College with 3 campuses. Ama Mary Eseli Injinoo and Bamaga Primary Campuses have Kindy to Year 6, while Year 7‐12 secondary student needs are met by the Senior Campus in Bamaga. All campuses are managed by a Head of Campus, with the College Principal overseeing strategic direction.

Your Role

The successful applicant will contribute to the development of a comprehensive student support and wellbeing programme that is responsive to the needs of the school community. You will be required to provide leadership, support and case management in responding to some of the most complex and challenging of circumstances, including student protection matters, critical incidents and mental health issues. You will have the ability to form strong and productive relationships with key stakeholders in order to develop and implement plans and programmes that are responsive to the needs of students. As a specialist member of a multi‐disciplinary team, you will offer therapeutic support to students with mild‐to‐moderate mental health concerns.

Responsibilities Include
* Assess the mental health needs of students to inform appropriate therapeutic interventions
* Deliver individual and group interventions to students which address mental health concerns
* Work collaboratively with schools' leadership and student support teams to inform student support planning, and provide advice to teachers supporting students' mental health in the classroom
* Develop referral and case management processes to support delivery of the service
* Coordinate referrals to external agencies, and work collaboratively with external networks and stakeholders to ensure access to appropriate supports for students
