As a Chef at Fitz Cafe Wagga Wagga, you will be responsible for planning and preparing menu items, maintaining consistently high food standards, supporting kitchen operations, and leading the team to deliver excellent café-style dining experiences. This position requires strong leadership, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality and food safety. Responsibilities and Tasks: Plan and coordinate daily mise en place and service across breakfast and lunch trade, ensuring timely delivery of orders. Prepare, cook, and present café-style dishes to consistent recipes and portion standards, maintaining quality across all sections. Develop, cost, and refine seasonal menus and specials using fresh, locally sourced ingredients and customer feedback. Monitor stock levels, place orders, and coordinate purchasing to minimise waste and ensure availability of key ingredients. Maintain strict food safety and hygiene standards (including temperature control, allergen management, and cleaning schedules) in line with regulations. Supervise, train, and mentor kitchen staff on preparation methods, plating standards, and efficient service workflows. Coordinate with front-of-house to manage service pace, special requests, and customer dietary requirements. Assist the Head Chef with daily kitchen operations, rostering support, and continuous improvement initiatives. Qualifications and Skills: Relevant qualification. Minimum 3 years experience as a Chef Strong knowledge of modern café cuisine, preparation methods, and plating standards Ability to lead and train a small kitchen team in a high-volume service environment Sound understanding of food safety, WHS, and kitchen hygiene compliance Excellent time management, organisation, and ability to work under pressure Salary: The role offers a remuneration package ranging from $75,000 - $80,000 p.a plus superannuation for a 38-hour work week.
