Mater Private Hospital Townsville is currently looking for suitably qualified Career Medical Officers who are passionate and available to work in our Intensive Care Unit (ICU). These positions are offered at part-time, full-time or casual. Find the employment that suits you and your lifestyle!
About the role
These opportunities will place you with our dynamic Intensivist-led multidisciplinary team, managing critically ill patients in a Level 6, ten bed tertiary ICU. This role would suit anaesthetics/ICU or ED trained registrar’s looking for a well-supported experience in a friendly, patient focused ICU in beautiful North Queensland. Mater Private Hospital Townsville is the largest private cardiac facility north of Brisbane, where our experienced team perform more than 300 heart surgeries each year. You will work closely with Cardio Thoracic patients and our CCU/CTU team. The ICU operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with the Career Medical Officers rostered on for day shifts of 11 hours and night shifts of 14 hours.
Responsibilities
Provide care to critically ill patients within a Level 6, ten bed tertiary ICU as part of an Intensivist-led multidisciplinary team. Work with Cardio Thoracic patients and the CCU/CTU team. Participate in 24/7 ICU operations with day or night shifts as rostered.
Qualifications
- Registered Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Three (3) years post graduate experience; including three (3) months preferably (6) months in anaesthesia; in addition, at least six (6) months experience in ICU and/or ED.
- Skilled in airway management including bag/valve/mask ventilation, endotracheal intubation and laryngeal mask airway (LMA) placement.
- Demonstrated skill in the placement of arterial lines and central venous catheters.
Eligibility
- A permanent resident of Australia
- A New Zealand citizen with a current New Zealand Passport
- A citizen of another country with an appropriate visa that allows you to work in Australia
