The role

We currently have a great opportunity for someone to join our Risk and Governance team as a Risk Support Analyst. This is a 12-month contract covering a parental leave period.

The Line 1 Risk Support Analyst for Claims & Assessing enables effective risk management by guiding, supporting, and facilitating teams within the division in their ownership and management of operational incidents and risks. You will ensure consistent application of risk frameworks, accurate data capture, and continuous improvement, empowering divisional teams to manage their risk landscape effectively.

Risk accountabilities relevant to your line of defence

Line 1 Risk Support are risk-focused employees within the first line of defence who are responsible for providing expert advice and support to Line 1 on the application of the Risk Management Framework (RMF).

This includes testing the effectiveness of controls, identifying gaps in risk management practices, and recommending improvements to ensure alignment with the RMF.

The key elements of Line 1 Risk Support

* Expert Advice and Support: Line 1 Risk Support provides specialized knowledge and guidance to Line 1 on risk management matters.
* Testing and Evaluation: They conduct assessments and testing to evaluate the effectiveness of controls and identify areas for improvement.
* Alignment with RMF: They ensure that Line 1's risk management activities are consistent and integrated with the organisation's overall risk management framework.

Position Accountabilities

* Facilitate the embedment, operationalisation, and continuous improvement of the risk management framework, including the Three Lines of Defence (3LoD) model, Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RSCA), and Risk Management
* Declaration (RMD) processes.

Maintain core risk management artefacts, ensuring they are current, accurate, and accessible.
* Review risk assessments, control designs, process maps, and Line 1 self-assessments, ensuring alignment with Risk Appetite Statement (RAS) principles.
* Facilitate the effective capture, resolution, and tracking of divisional issues, incidents, and internal audit actions, driving timely closure.
* Contribute to the division's end-to-end third-party risk management, encompassing risk assessments, ongoing supplier health monitoring, and accurate system representation (e.g., Nlighten) of third-party responsibilities.
* Coordinate Business Continuity Plan (BCP) updates and testing activities.
* Prepare and manage divisional risk and issue reporting for key forums, including KRI data management, action monitoring, insight sourcing, and ensuring data integrity within risk systems (e.g., Nlighten) for executive reporting.
* Contribute to the development and delivery of risk education materials and training for Line 1 staff, fostering a strong risk management culture and enhancing risk ownership and capability.
* Take all reasonable directions from leaders to comply with the organisation's workplace health & safety (WHS) protocols. WHS is everyone's responsibility.
* Any other ad hoc duties as reasonably directed by your leadership team.

Qualifications & Experience

Qualifications:

* Relevant Bachelor's degree and/or relevant industry qualifications desirable.

Skills & Experience

* 1-3 years of experience in a risk, compliance, quality assurance, audit, or operational role, preferably within a financial services or regulated environment.
* Foundational understanding of risk management principles, incident management, and control environments.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex information clearly and concisely.
* Proficiency in using risk management systems (e.g., Nlighten) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
* Ability to work collaboratively within a team and effectively engage with stakeholders at various levels
* Proactive approach to identifying issues and a commitment to continuous improvement.
* The ability to absorb and understand specific division operations and therefore regulatory landscape. Specific prior experience working in an operational role within the relevant division is advantageous
