Clerical / Pre-Admission – Grampians Health
Permanent part-time position.
About the Role
The Clerical staff provide essential reception, administrative, and clerical support to ensure the effective operation of the Pre-Admission Clinic. This role is responsible for coordinating bookings for patients who need to be seen or telephoned by Pre-admission. Clerical staff prepare and collate the necessary paperwork required. The clerk supports implementation and documentation requirements of Pre-admission, consistently demonstrating a high standard of communication and customer service to patients, visitors, and the broader community accessing Grampians Health Horsham.
Key Responsibilities
Verify and update patient information, including Medicare and private insurance details, in line with Grampians Health policies.
Coordinate bookings of patients requiring Pre-admission clinic appointments.
Liaise with patients to complete required documentation and ensure clarity and accuracy.
Collaborate with internal departments to support efficient and consistent data processes.
Support the team environment and undertake additional duties as directed by the Nurse Unit Manager.
Skills & Experience
Strong customer service background with experience in administration, reception, and admissions, preferably in a healthcare setting.
High computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and familiarity with clinical systems such as iPM and OPAL.
Well-developed organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage competing demands.
Excellent communication skills and ability to build effective working relationships.
Understanding of confidentiality, patient rights, and medical terminology.
Demonstrated attention to detail, initiative, and ability to work both independently and within a team under pressure.
