Experience it here.About the program:AIR6500 is the RAAF's $3 billion program to develop a joint air battle management system that builds on the capabilities offered by Next Generation sensor and command and control systems.
AIR6500 will create a fully networked 'system of systems' that synchronises air and missile defence operations in joint and coalition environments, maximising situational awareness and enhancing the speed of decision making across the battlespace.About the role:Using an Agile DevSecOps delivery model and collaborative operating environment, AIR6500 is shaping the future of Defence capability in Australia.As the Software Configuration & Release Lead, you will take responsibility for the discipline of software configuration management across the program.
This includes establishing best practice processes for version control, branch management, build and release management, change tracking, and configuration auditing.
You will play a critical role in ensuring software builds are controlled, tested, and successfully deployed through the lifecycle — from integration and verification through to delivery.
Your responsibilities will include: Leverage CI/CD tools to automate build, test, and deployment pipelines.Lead software version control, build management, and release management activities.Define and enforce standards for branch management, versioning, and release processes.Develop and implement release strategies aligned with industry best practice.Oversee creation of quality builds, release candidates, and supporting documentation.Ensure accurate documentation of build, release, and environment configurations.Support Engineering Reviews and audits to maintain compliance with CM requirements.Maintain inventory and licensing for COTS and FOSS software.Provide guidance to developers on SCM issues and best practice.
About you: To be successful in this role, you will have:Significant experience with version control and repository management tools (e.g. GitLab, Nexus).
Strong experience with CI/CD pipelines and Agile software development.

Familiarity with DevSecOps practices and containerisation/orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
