Senior Water Projects Engineer

Salary range: $103k - $119k (level per annum + superannuation

Location: York St, Beenleigh

Position: Full Time Permanent

About the role

Logan City Council is seeking a Senior Water Projects Engineer to join our Logan Water Infrastructure Delivery Program - a dynamic initiative delivering a diverse range of water and wastewater infrastructure projects to support the city's future growth. This role is pivotal in managing complex and challenging projects that ensure reliable services for our community while meeting Logan Water's asset standards, regulatory requirements, and contractual obligations. You'll play a key part in shaping sustainable solutions and driving innovation across the program.

As a Senior Water Projects Engineer, you will provide technical expertise and project leadership across design, planning, and construction phases. You'll oversee internal and external delivery partners, ensuring compliance with specifications, quality standards, and regulatory requirements. This role also involves mentoring professional staff and contributing to a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration.

Key indicators:

* Coordinate and manage water and wastewater infrastructure projects from planning through delivery.
* Review and provide professional advice on complex design proposals and technical specifications.
* Ensure compliance with Logan Water's asset standards, contractual obligations, and regulatory requirements.
* Oversee performance of professional staff, consultants, and contractors, providing guidance and quality assurance.
* Strong relevant experience working on construction projects in construction/project management role in the water industry with verifiable experience in tender processes, contract administration and site management
* Maintain current knowledge of best practices in water and wastewater technologies and infrastructure design.
* Contribute to policy development, benchmarking, and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Capture and report project performance data and metrics.
* Foster collaboration across internal teams and external stakeholders to resolve risks and issues.
* Promote a safety-first culture and ensure all work aligns with health, safety, and environmental standards.

You'll possess

* Extensive experience in water and wastewater infrastructure design, construction, and project delivery.
* Strong capabilities in project management, including tendering, contract administration, and stakeholder engagement.
* Proven ability to interpret and apply legislation relevant to Queensland water service providers.
* Technical expertise in planning and coordinating engineering activities to deliver outcomes within timeframes and budgets.
* Proficiency in project management software, spreadsheets, and word processing (CAD skills advantageous).
* Leadership skills including demonstrated experience in managing professional staff, external consultants and contractors in the safe construction of water and wastewater infrastructure
* High level of personal accountability, adaptability, and commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
* Ability to build trust, act with integrity, and foster a culture of excellence in service delivery.

Mandatory Requirements

* Willingness to work across multiple sites
* Bachelor of Engineering
* RPEQ accreditation
* Motor Vehicle C Class licence
* Pass a "Power of Entry" test
* Construction Safety induction (White Card)
* Vaccinations: Hep A, Hep B, QFever and Tetanus
* Pass pre-employment screening checks
