Your New Role
Reporting to the Senior Risk Lead, you will sit within a program implementing the future member service model, partnering with project workstreams to support delivery of superior member outcomes. You will ensure the right level of risk is taken to achieve strategy, with appropriate controls, mitigating actions and indicators in place to manage and monitor delivered risks. You will work closely with stakeholders across the Member Domain and broader Fund, providing pragmatic risk advice while helping maintain a simple, effective and fit‐for‐purpose risk ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
- Proactively engage with stakeholders across workstreams and act as the first point of contact for delivered risks, providing balanced risk advice aligned to business objectives.
- Participate in workstream ways of working, including working groups, stand‐ups, workshops and check‐ins.
- Lead end‐to‐end delivered risk assessments for key workstreams, including identifying, designing and implementing controls and improvements.
- Coordinate and formally capture risk acceptances with Business Risk Owners.
- Provide risk input into business requirements, solution design and future state process mapping.
- Complete ad‐hoc risk assessments supporting key decisions across allocated workstreams.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of operational risk experience, ideally within financial services.
- Strong knowledge of risk and compliance frameworks, particularly within a Line 1 environment.
- Critical thinking with strong analytical and problem‐solving capability.
- Ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities and remain composed under pressure.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence and provide pragmatic, commercially sound risk advice.
- High level of professionalism and discretion when handling confidential matters.
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships across all levels of the organisation.
- Accreditation in Risk Management from a recognised body such as the Risk Management Institute of Australasia (RMIA) or Governance Institute of Australia (GIA), or willingness to obtain one after joining AustralianSuper.
- Demonstrated ability to understand and translate external regulatory requirements to shape business outcomes.
Location
Open to candidates based in Sydney or Melbourne for a 12‐month maximum term role.
