In this role, you’ll:
* Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of financial risk management and treasury reporting policies across Transport for NSW.
* Ensure compliance with NSW Treasury requirements, legislative frameworks, and accounting standards while driving consistency and transparency in treasury practices.
* Provide expert guidance on policy application, financial risk management, and executive‑level reporting obligations to support effective governance and informed decision‑making.
* Lead the development, implementation, and review of financial risk management and treasury reporting policies, frameworks, and procedures to ensure compliance with statutory obligations, Australian Accounting Standards, and NSW Treasury requirements.
* Lead executive reporting as the subject matter expert in financial risk and treasury reporting, delivering expert analysis and insights on complex reporting, risk exposures, and policy application to support agency and Director‑level decision‑making.
* Support external accountability by coordinating and assuring monthly, quarterly, and year‑end treasury reporting to underpin the organisation’s obligations to NSW Treasury, the Audit Office, and external regulators.
* Strengthen governance and compliance by monitoring adherence to treasury and risk frameworks across Transport, escalating significant risks and providing recommendations to the Director for resolution and executive consideration.
* Develop people and organisational capability by mentoring staff, embedding policy knowledge across Group Finance, and supporting the organisation’s financial risk and treasury capability.
Permanent full‑time role | Home office Macquarie Park. Hybrid work arrangements in line with Transport's Workplace Presence policy.
About You
* Extensive technical expertise in financial risk management, treasury reporting, and compliance, with deep knowledge of accounting standards, financial instruments, NSW Treasury policies, and relevant legislative frameworks.
* Proven experience in developing, implementing, and maintaining financial policies, frameworks, and reporting processes within a large, complex organisation or public sector environment.
* Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to interpret complex financial risk and treasury information, identify emerging issues, and provide clear, actionable advice to senior stakeholders.
* Well‑developed stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills to influence, collaborate, and maintain effective relationships with NSW Treasury, the Audit Office, senior executives, and agency finance teams.
* Leadership and people‑management experience in mentoring, coaching, and building capability within finance teams, and driving continuous improvement in policies, processes, and systems.
* Essential requirements – Bachelor qualification in a relevant discipline (Accounting, Business, Economics or Commerce) from an Australian university or an equivalent overseas qualification, extensive and relevant professional experience, and a full member of a recognised professional body.
