Regional Development Coordinator * Salary: $113,022 – $136,747 (Plus Superannuation) * Fixed-term to 30 June 2026 * Usual hours of work: Full time (flexibility may be available) * Usual work location: Bairnsdale Office - 574 Main Street, Bairnsdale VIC 3875 (flexibility may be available) The Role As a Regional Development Coordinator, you will be responsible for developing, coordinating, and implementing a range of development initiatives for communities and businesses in the region to identify and facilitate place-based solutions to support enhanced livability and prosperity in regional communities. The role will also include the delivery of a range of programs and projects at the local and regional level as part of the East Gippsland regional team. The position is well suited to a highly motivated individual with a track record in community and industry development in government and/or industry sectors. The successful applicant will be resilient, solutions focused, results orientated, highly motivated and enjoy building and developing effective stakeholder relationships. Key accountabilities include: * Utilise a significant understanding of the local region and its community, industry, and government context, local issues, and their context within the regional, State and national setting, as well as understanding local trends, opportunities, and risks to lead delivery of governmental priorities. * Lead integrated investment in place by understanding, influencing, and negotiating with key internal and external stakeholders and partners by developing and maintaining strategic relationships and networks with Federal, State and local government, community organisations, business, and industry. * Lead investment attraction, economic development, and the delivery of a range of DJSIR/RDV industry and recovery initiatives across the region, utilising commercial acumen and a sound understanding of regional economies, workforce, geography, stakeholders, and transport links to identify, leverage and create regional development opportunities. * Manage and support a portfolio of stakeholders through promoting, delivering and managing a range of development initiatives for community and businesses within the region including identifying and delivering new investment initiatives in response to leads from business intelligence and analytics insights, community, industry and other internal and external stakeholders in alignment with investment KPIs. * Achieve program objectives by maintaining strategic links with program areas including facilitating grant and milestone management activities and monitoring, managing and reviewing performance of grant recipients and supporting cohesive grant delivery within the group. The Team The position of Regional Development Coordinator will work across Gippsland branch, which sits within the Regional Development Victoria group. Regional Development Victoria groups work with businesses, communities and across government to deliver economic growth, create jobs, build resilience, and support economic recovery in our regions. We have a strong role in activating networks; building partnerships; realising outcomes that boost local economic and community resilience; and bringing the lived experience of communities into government decision making. In delivering our portfolio priorities, we work closely with parts of government given the many synergies and linkages with other priorities across government. About You To be successful in this role you will have the following skills and experience: * Specialist Expertise: Sound understanding of the key industry and economic drivers, and knowledge of Government policies and programs, current and emerging trends specifically related to rural and regional communities and industry, including the issues and factors affecting and influencing their social and economic growth, development and capacity to engage in the global economy. * Project Management: Consults, liaises with and influences key stakeholders; produces detailed project plans where objectives are clearly defined and action steps for achieving them are clearly specified; monitors performance against objectives and manages project risks and issues; ensures project objectives are met. * Stakeholder Management: Identifies issues in common for one or more stakeholders and uses this knowledge to build mutually beneficial partnerships; identifies and responds to stakeholder's underlying needs; uses understanding of the stakeholder's organisational context to ensure outcomes are achieved; find innovative solutions to resolve stakeholder issues. * Verbal and Written Communication: Prepares complex briefs, letters, emails and reports using clear, concise and grammatically correct language; edits written communications to ensure they contain the information necessary to achieve their purpose and meet audience needs; ensures appropriate style and formats are used. Confidently conveys ideas and information in a clear and interesting way; clearly understands the target audience and the objectives of the communication; uses audience feedback to refine communication and ensure communications are understood; handles difficult and sensitive communications well. * Conceptual and Analytical Skills: High level conceptual and analytical skills, ability to apply complex concepts to program development and translating concepts to operational activities and strong issue analysis and resolution skills.
