Base pay range
A$200,000.00/yr - A$240,000.00/yr
About the Role
You will provide expert legal advice on a broad range of regulatory matters, with a focus on consumer credit, deposit-taking, and prudential compliance. This role is critical in managing legal risk, supporting business objectives, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulatory frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide timely and pragmatic legal advice across the bank\'s operations, products, and regulatory obligations
* Advise on consumer credit matters under the National Credit Code and broader retail banking regulation
* Review product collateral and assess legal incidents or breaches, including regulator engagement (ASIC/APRA)
* Collaborate with internal stakeholders and manage relationships with external legal counsel
* Contribute to a high-performing, visible legal team that partners effectively with the business
What We\'re Looking For
* A Senior lawyer with a strong grounding in financial services or banking law from a financial institution or mid/top tier law firm
* Demonstrated experience in consumer credit, retail banking regulation, and prudential standards
* Retail banking credit experience under the National Credit Code
* ADI deposit-taking regulation and operations experience is a plus
* Solid understanding of prudential standards and APRA requirements
* ASIC/APRA engagement, breach reporting regimes
* Knowledge of the Customer Owned Banking Code of Practice is a plus
