Overview
Clinical Nurse Educator – Banksia ward at The Royal Children's Hospital (RCH). This is a part-time ongoing role at 64 hours per fortnight within the Banksia ward.
What You'll Achieve
* Work alongside new and existing staff to support delivery of excellence in mental health nursing care and develop their skills, knowledge, abilities and attributes
* Develop and engage high quality, reflective group and individual clinical supervision frameworks for undergraduate, graduate, postgraduate, transition nurses and all mental health nursing staff in collaboration with the PNC
* Demonstrate a commitment to own clinical progression, by creating a professional development plan (in collaboration with the Senior Psychiatric Nurse (SPN)) which reflects contemporary child and adolescent mental health nursing
* Evaluate and report on the effectiveness of nursing workforce education and training programs
Classification for this position will range from Grade 4 Year 1 (NP75) to Grade 4 Year 3 (NP77) with base salary ranges noted in the original description.
Your Skills And Experience
* Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) administered through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA)
* Evidence of extensive experience in acute adolescent mental health
* Demonstrated expert knowledge and application of contemporary theories and techniques of practice that underpin mental health care and management of challenging behaviours
* Post graduate diploma in Mental Health Nursing or completed a specialist undergraduate Mental Health Nursing program
* Demonstrated commitment to ongoing personal and professional development, evidenced in a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) record/Portfolio
* Understanding of the Mental Health Intensive Care Framework (2019), Victorian Mental Health Act (2014) and other relevant legislation, policies and directions of public Mental Health Services
* Understanding of adult learning principles
* Preceptorship experience and knowledge
* Relevant computer skills and experience with learning management systems

About Banksia Ward – Mental Health
Banksia Ward is a 16-bed inpatient unit for young people aged 13 to 18 years, focusing on assessment and treatment of a range of mental and psychological disorders within a least restrictive environment. The multidisciplinary team includes psychiatrists, mental health qualified nurses, a psychologist, social worker, psychiatry registrar and teachers with special education qualifications.
