An exciting opportunity has presented for an experienced and motivated Senior Medical Receptionist/Secretary to join our client, a private Urology Surgeon who is based in Ipswich with a strong focus on minimally invasive "keyhole" techniques. Having extensive experience in laparoscopic prostate and kidney cancer surgery and successfully performed over 300 laparoscopic prostate cancer removals with patient outcomes comparable to robotic prostatectomy but at very reasonable cost to patients.
This is a full-time permanent position (38 hours a week) offering not only a dynamic and rewarding administrative role but also the potential to transition into Practice Manager responsibilities within the next 12–18 months.
The hours and days for this position offer flexibility, with two roster options available to suit the right candidate:
Option 1: Monday to Friday, 7:30am – 3:00pm
Option 2: Tuesday to Thursday, 7:30am – 4:00pm/5:00pm, and Friday, 7:30am – 3:30pm
Key duties and responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):
* Managing all incoming telephone calls, emails and general patient enquiries in a timely manner
* Meet and greet of patients visiting the practice
* Managing all patient bookings and ensuring the smooth day to day running of patient clinics
* Preparing theatre quotations and booking theatre procedures
* Liaising closely with hospitals, patients and other referring specialists
* Patient billing and receipting for consultations as well assisting the current Practice Manager with the processing of inpatient/surgery billing
* Preparing reports, banking and reconciliation
* Managing all incoming and outgoing practice email correspondence
* Proofing all medical correspondence generated by Dragon dictation
* General administration, secretarial and on occasions PA support to the Surgeon as required.
To ensure your success you will have:
* You will have at least 3 years' experience working in a similar role (ideally having come from another surgical specialist or private medical practice)
* A warm personality to greet patients with professional clear communication and a polite articulate manner
* Immaculate personal presentation, strong interpersonal and communication skills
* Previous experience using Genie or Xestro software – preferred
* Proficient computer skills, with confidence working with MS Office Suite and billing via Medicare, DVA, WorkCover and ADF as well as Private Health Funds
* Strong written and oral communication skills with uncompromising attention to detail
* General understanding of medical terminology and the importance of patient privacy and confidentiality
* The ability to work well within a small team environment with scope to further develop your career into the direction of Practice Management.
The role supports a busy specialist surgeon who operates across 5 hospitals and consults from 3 clinic locations. This position is based in Ipswich and offers the right candidate an engaging and fast-paced environment with a varied and dynamic workload. Remuneration:
A generous salary of $35–$40 per hour plus superannuation will be offered to the successful candidate, commensurate with experience and skills.
