We don't settle for surface-level answers. We dig into complex issues, challenge assumptions, and engage in honest, constructive debate because rigorous thinking makes our work stronger.

About the role

We are looking for an experienced senior video editor to join the production team for
Kochie's Business Builders

, a Channel 7 program that highlights the challenges and successes of Australian small businesses.

Reporting to the Head of Production, you will work alongside the Executive Producer, producers, animators, and other editors. You will serve as a key resource to our existing post-production team, providing the ability to increase our capacity as the TV production cycle expands and contracts.

We require a highly experienced editor with strong post-producing skills. You must have the editorial maturity to take raw interviews and B-roll and craft them into polished, broadcast-ready stories.

What you'll be doing

1. Segment post-producing/editing.

You will be responsible for editing a variety of segment types, including:

* Business case studies:

Crafting narrative-driven stories that highlight a business's journey, weaving together interviews and B-roll to create an emotional or educational connection.
- Studio interviews:

Editing multi-cam studio conversations between the host and guests, ensuring smooth pacing and engaging cutting patterns.
- Green screen base edits:

Preparing and syncing green screen footage to be handed off to the motion graphics team for final composite.
- Product explainers:

Creating clear, instructional edits that demonstrate product features or services effectively.

Core editing duties

* Narrative construction:

Create clear narratives from interviews and B-roll.
- Paper edits:

Construct stories via paper edits from transcripts or interpret producer-led paper edits.
- Audio editing:

Select music, blend tracks, and add SFX/atmos to build scenes.
- Finishing:

Taking the edit to a polished state including basic colour grading.
- Variety of work:

While the primary focus is segments for the TV show, you may be required to work on projects outside of TV content (e.g. digital content, corporate deliverables) if needed.

2. Technical mastery and execution (Adobe Premiere Pro)

* Experience:

A minimum of 8+ years in Adobe Premiere Pro is required.
- Multicam:

A history of creating and working with multicam sequences is a must.
- Effects and animation:

Use internal effects and keyframing. Must be able to integrate animations from designers and be familiar with Dynamic Linking from After Effects projects.
- MOGRTs:

Work with provided MOGRTs.
- Colour grading:

Basic colour grading skills are required.
- Transcription workflow:

Familiar with using the transcription feature within Premiere Pro.
- Footage preparation:

While not essential, the technical ability to sync audio and video, organise bins, and prepare footage for editing is highly valued. This may be required in instances where footage cannot be prepared internally beforehand.
- Workflow and organisation:

Maintain clean and organised project files and timelines. This is critical to ensure your segments can be seamlessly handed off to the in-house team for final show assembly.

Logistics

* Contract dates:

19th of February for 8-10 weeks.
- Rate:

$600 full day/ $350 half day
- Schedule:

Guaranteed 2 days a week, with the high possibility of this being more depending on production volume.
- Location:

This is a fully remote role.
- Internet requirement:

You must have reliable, high-speed internet. As this is a remote role, the ability to download and upload large video files efficiently is paramount.
