An Australian R&D and manufacturing company developing advanced defence and industrial systems is expanding its team and now hiring a CNC Programmer to support production of high-precision components as they move into full-scale manufacturing.
In this role, you will be responsible for programming, setting up, and operating multi-axis CNC milling machines to produce metallic parts that meet strict defence quality standards. You will work closely with the engineering and assembly teams to ensure components are delivered on time and within tolerance.
This is a full-time, onsite role based in Adelaide, SA, working an afternoon shift (12:00 PM - 8:00 PM) with shift loading applied on top of base salary.
Key Responsibilities:
* Program, set up, and operate multi-axis CNC milling machines.
* Read and interpret CAD/CAM models and engineering drawings.
* Select tooling, speeds, and feeds appropriate for defence-grade materials.
* Carry out first-off inspections and ensure parts meet quality requirements.
* Perform adjustments and minor maintenance to optimise machine performance.
* Work collaboratively with engineers and assembly teams to resolve manufacturing issues.
* Maintain accurate documentation and follow company quality processes.
Requirements:
* Proven experience as a CNC Machinist with strong programming ability.
* Background in defence, or other precision manufacturing industries desirable.
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and CAD/CAM data.
* Familiarity with multi-axis CNC milling machines.
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
* Must be an Australian citizen.
Desirable but not essential:
* Experience with defence-grade materials such as aluminium, titanium, or stainless steel.
* Exposure to ISO 9001 or AS9100 quality environments.
* Mechanical trade qualifications or equivalent.
