The objectives of the Assistant Electorate Officer position are:
- Provide secretarial, executive and administrative support;
- Supporting and engaging with constituents and community groups; and
- General administration of the daily operations of the electorate office.
Whilst the above are broad objectives set for the position, specific tasks may include:
- assisting in operation of the electorate office;
- supporting the Electorate Officer;
- liaising with constituents who contact the electorate office for information and assistance
- supporting and engaging with community groups directly or through established external forums;
- management and maintainence of the Member's diary;
- IT management and research;
- financial obligations as set by legislation and Parliamentary Service policy.

- good general knowledge of the Queensland political landscape and current affairs;
- exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with a broad range of clients and stakeholders;
- exceptional organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure and effectively prioritise tasks to ensure deadlines are met;
- the ability to work autonomously and part of a small team; and
- a passion for delivering outcomes.
