About Us:

Skillset Senior College is an innovative, independent senior school for students in Years 10-12, with campuses in Bathurst and Dubbo. Our mission is to partner with young people who may be experiencing barriers to their education and to support them to complete their secondary schooling. Skillset Senior College is a Not-for-Profit Company Limited by Guarantee.

About the Role:

Skillset Senior College seeks applications from residents in Central Western NSW interested in becoming a member of our Board. Applicants from Dubbo are highly desirable. Directors are elected for a term of three years and can serve up to three consecutive terms.

Our Directors actively guide strategic direction, ensure effective governance, provide oversight of and support to the leadership team of the College, all in the name of achieving our mission. This role is not just about governance; it's about being a catalyst for change and a champion for our students, staff and communities.

Director responsibilities include:

* Attending quarterly Board Meetings held in Bathurst, NSW, (with one per year in Dubbo, NSW).
* Leading with passion and purpose, guiding strategic direction and ensuring we stay true to our mission.
* Fostering a culture of kindness, courage and consideration.
* Supporting and mentoring our leadership team, providing the wisdom and insight needed to navigate challenges and seize opportunities.
* Ensuring legal compliance and achieving relevant governance requirements.
* Acting as an ambassador for the organisation in the community and participating in relevant events and activities.

About you:

The ideal candidate will bring strategic vision, strong leadership skills, and a passion for education. In addition, our aim is to ensure our Board is composed of individuals who collectively possess the wide range of skills, experience and attributes necessary to effectively govern the organisation.

Applications are invited from individuals with skills and experience across one or more of the following areas:

* Education Sector, especially independent schools
* Accounting Practice
* Legal

Ideally, candidates will also hold:

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* AICD or equivalent qualification (or willing to obtain).
* Strong understanding of governance and fiduciary responsibilities.
* Proven experience in a leadership role, preferably within the education sector.
* Business acumen, with exposure to compliance, governance and risk management.
* Experience in a not-for-profit environment (desirable)
