About the Role
We're looking for an experienced Senior SQL Developer to join our Agile delivery team. In this role, you'll work closely with developers, analysts, and business stakeholders to support and enhance our core billing, data, and energy systems.
You'll be involved across the full software development lifecycle — from planning and design through to development, testing, release, and continuous improvement — and will also contribute to data-driven and AI-enabled initiatives that improve operational efficiency and business insight.
Key Responsibilities
* Work collaboratively within an Agile delivery team, sharing ownership of outcomes
* Design, develop, optimise, and maintain complex SQL solutions supporting billing and energy operations
* Translate backlog items into clear, logical tasks and estimates
* Implement changes aligned with acceptance criteria and engineering best practices
* Perform peer code reviews and support team members when required
* Interact with internal stakeholders to clarify requirements and expected outcomes
* Collaborate with multiple departments to help integrate AI and data-driven solutions into critical day-to-day workflows
* Contribute to the delivery and operation of scalable AI/data pipelines, supporting analytics, automation, and decision-making use cases
* Produce clear, concise technical and solution documentation
* Write and execute unit tests to ensure high-quality, reliable solutions
* Actively contribute to continuous improvement of development processes
Skills & Experience
* 5+ years of experience developing and supporting software applications
* Strong hands-on SQL database development experience
* Demonstrated experience working specifically with SQL Server database platform
* 1–2 years of experience designing, building, and operating scalable AI or data pipelines, covering data collection, evaluation, and delivery of AI-driven or advanced analytics solutions in a business environment
* Solid understanding of energy / utility industry concepts (electricity retail highly regarded)
* Minimum 1 year of practical experience working within the energy or utility industry sector
* Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with business, operations, and technical teams
* Good understanding of the software development life cycle and Agile delivery
* Familiarity with modern engineering practices (TDD, CI/CD, estimation techniques, etc.)
* Experience with utility billing systems is highly desirable
* .NET development experience is desirable
* Experience working in Agile teams is preferred
