We are recruiting Mental Health Nurses to join a nurse-led primary health team within a youth custodial setting in Malmsbury. This role focuses on delivering mental health assessments, risk assessments, care planning, and coordinated mental health support to young people in custody.
You will work closely with GPs and multidisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care and positive mental health outcomes. A rotating roster across day, afternoon, and night shifts applies.
Key Duties
5. Conduct comprehensive mental health and risk assessments
6. Deliver treatment and review aligned with care plans
7. Support discharge planning and continuity of care
8. Monitor mental state and escalate clinical concerns
9. Collaborate with GPs and multidisciplinary teamsSkills & Experience - Essential
10. AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
11. Postgraduate qualification in Mental Health Nursing
12. Minimum 2 years mental health nursing experience
13. Strong risk assessment and clinical decision-making skills
14. Ability to work both independently and in a teamDesired Skills & Experience
15. Experience in forensic or custodial settings
16. Experience supporting vulnerable or marginalised youth
17. Strong organisational and communication skills
18. Confidence working in high-risk environmentsOther Requirements
19. Working With Children Check (WWCC)
20. National Police Check
21. Ability to obtain Justice security clearance
22. Up-to-date Immunisation Category A
