About the role
As part of the Finance Function's first line of defence, the Senior Financial Accountant – Regulatory Reporting and Compliance supports the Manager Financial Control to ensure accurate and timely accounting and regulatory reporting for P&N Group.
Responsibilities
Regulatory reporting
* Interpret and apply regulatory reporting standards for application through a managed solution
* Perform first‑line review of regulatory reporting
* Provide oversight of the review process of APRA forms by stakeholders
* Support the Financial Accountant in preparing regulatory reporting
* Key business owner and subject‑matter expert in the APRA 5‑year project for all regulatory reporting
* Perform regulatory annual test requirements over APS910
Statutory reporting
* Assist with the creation and processing of complex journals
* Perform the preparation and review of monthly balance sheet account reconciliations
* Prepare statutory accounts
* Provide assistance with External Audit
* Review accounts payable and Treasury Middle Office disbursement process
Controls, process improvement & governance
* Maintain strong controls around statutory and regulatory reporting processes
* Identify opportunities to optimise and streamline reporting processes
* Contribute to risk and control frameworks for the finance function, including risk & control assessments and control remediation
This is a permanent, full‑time opportunity with eligibility for flexible and hybrid working arrangements. P&N Group is open to applicants based in Perth, WA, Brisbane, QLD, or Coffs Harbour, NSW.
What you bring
* Significant proven experience in regulatory financial reporting within a banking or financial services environment
* Demonstrated understanding of the Corporations Act, APRA prudential regulations, Australian Accounting Standards, Banking Law & Practices
* Strong to advanced Excel skills; working knowledge of financial reporting systems, general ledger, data analytics or business intelligence tools preferred
* A proactive mindset, continuously looking to streamline, automate and improve processes and controls
* Strong stakeholder management and communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non‑finance audiences and influence accordingly
* Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or related discipline; CA/CPA (or equivalent) qualified
