We are seeking a passionate Senior Exploration Geologist to join our Bendigo Ophir Gold Project.
About Us
Santana Minerals Limited ('Santana') discovered the most significant single gold deposit in New Zealand in over four decades at the Bendigo-Ophir project in Central Otago. We are now focused on developing this project into an environmentally responsible, economically sustainable mining project bringing inter-generational employment and prosperity to the region. Matakanui Gold Limited (MGL) is the owner of the Bendigo-Ophir Gold Project and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Santana.
The Role
Joining the site Geology team, this role will offer you broad exposure to modern exploration processes:
RC & Diamond drill rig supervision
Geologic logging and interpretation of information collected from drill holes
Regional and prospect scale geologicalmapping with an emphasis on rock structure and alteration
Soil, rock, and stream sediment sampling
Integration and interrogation of data including the use of a range of software platforms
Supervision of field crews
Exploration planning.
The role is a permanent position at our exploration base at Bendigo in Central Otago.
Key Responsibilities
Contribute to geological interpretation, geological data collection and reports to ensure accuracy of interpretation and the ability to deliver on expected outcomes/strategic objectives
Prepare and compile statutory periodic reports
Liaise with Landholders to arrange access and work schedules
Generate high quality technical reports
Utilise site systems and QA/QC protocols to ensure quality and integrity of data
Consistently consider the financial impact of all your actions so that you can proactively participate in and assist your manager and team to manage costs effectively
Adhere to company standards and procedures
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and identify opportunities for improvements and enhancements which will increase operational performance.
About you
Are you a geologist with some experience looking for a role in a developing world-class gold project? Are you a recent university graduate who is looking for a dynamic hands-on role? We are looking to hear from applicants that:
Hold a Tertiary Qualification in Geology or similar
Experience with structural geology and orogenic gold deposits. The collection and analysis of structural information from outcrop and drill core is an important part of the role
Have an enthusiastic attitude towards exploration and desire to develop and improve skills
Have a genuine interest in exploration geology and the desire to be part of a high functioning geology team
Will be an initiative-taking team member who is willing to pitch in
Have first class communication skills and an eye for detail
Have a NZ Drivers License
